Safety in the workplace is at the forefront of everything we do at Comer Construction. And as a leading Maryland minority construction company, we’ve made it our top priority to ensure our employees are trained and certified in several critical areas of safety. Over the past several weeks, 36 Comer Construction employees completed a full-day First Aid and CPR Certification course offered in partnership with the National Safety Council and the Maryland Center for Environmental Training (MCET).
Comer Construction hosted three separate opportunities for employees to learn these life-saving skills during the full-day course held on Saturdays. All Supervisors are required to attend and become certified in both First Aid and CPR. Senior Leadership, along with many other employees, also received their two-year certification in both areas.
The CPR and First Aid Certifications are designed to train staff on how to react with confidence in emergency situations. Staff members worked with a manikin to practice one-rescuer CPR and rescue breathing techniques for choking. In addition, participants were trained on how to assess the scene of an emergency, establish the condition of a victim, infection control, and the latest guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiac care.
