Comer Construction held its Annual Meeting recently at the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company where employees gathered for an afternoon of educational presentations from local county officials on important topics in our community, including the opioid epidemic.

Erik Robey, Director of Legislative and Community Affairs with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office led the afternoon’s discussion, followed by officials from the Harford County Office of Drug Control Policy and Harford County Health Department.

As part of the discussion on the county’s opioid epidemic, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office brought its H.O.P.E. (Heroin Overdose Prevention Effort) House, a mobile simulation of a young person’s bedroom that highlights some of the places drugs can be hidden and other potential signs of drug use. Employees had an opportunity to walk through the H.O.P.E. House and also received training on Narcan nasal spray, a life-saving medicine that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and were given the nasal spray to take home with them.

Following the educational presentations, employees enjoyed dinner provided by MISSION BBQ.
