On May 8, 2026, Comer Construction joined more than 80 prime contractors, government agencies, utilities, and educational institutions at Martin’s West in Baltimore for the Maryland Washington Minority Companies Association‘s 23rd Annual Spring Breakfast Meeting and Business Showcase Expo.

The MWMCA exists to connect large prime contractors and government agencies with small, minority, and women-owned businesses. For a company like Comer Construction — certified by the Maryland Department of Transportation as a Minority Business Enterprise (MDOT WBE #02-102) and by the City of Baltimore as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE #15-366678) — it’s exactly the kind of event worth showing up for.

Susie Comer, President, has been building relationships across the region’s construction industry for more than four decades. Dorothy Kuzora, Vice President and Corporate Secretary, and Keith Kuzora, General Manager, joined her at the booth — continuing a tradition of showing up, meeting people, and staying connected to the networks that matter.

“Events like this one are important to us,” said Dorothy Kuzora. “As a certified women-owned business, we’re grateful there are organizations like MWMCA that create real opportunities for companies like ours to connect with the primes and agencies doing major work in this region.”

The room included procurement representatives from organizations Comer Construction has worked alongside for years — as well as new faces worth knowing. That mix is the point. Certifications open doors, but relationships keep them open.

Thank you to MWMCA for another well-run event and for the work you do connecting women and minority-owned businesses with the opportunities they’ve earned. We’ll see you next year.
