Partnering for Safety
At Comer Construction, safety and community service are more than priorities — they’re part of who we are. That’s why we are proud to once again partner with our neighbors at the Harford County Emergency Operations Center – Special Operations Division (Trench Rescue Team) for a hands-on trench rescue training exercise.
Led by Steve Hinch and Mike Berna, the Trench Rescue Team joined us on site where our crew dug a simulated trench using Comer equipment. The team then practiced rescuing a training mannequin from the trench using proper shoring and stabilization techniques — the same skills they rely on during real emergency calls.
This collaboration is part of an ongoing relationship with the county’s emergency response team. Over the years, we’ve supported each other through trench rescue demos, CPR and first aid training, and guided tours of the Emergency Operations Center. These shared experiences help both teams strengthen their skills and build trust that extends into the field.
As both construction experts and community partners, we’re proud to do our part in supporting the professionals who keep Harford County safe.
